Gulf Oil Disaster Claims Life of Aquaman on Comic Blogs

Artist depicts Aquaman in the tragic light of the BP oil spill.

The Gulf Coast oil spill may have claimed its biggest casualty yet: a superhero.

Comic book bloggers have taken artistic license in reporting the tragedy at the Deepwater Horizon oil rig.

The initial report came from a blogger Jeff Jordan who said that Aquamans body was found washed up on the shore of Mobile, Alabama, covered in oil after a heroic effort to stop the spill.

This prompted the comic site Aquaman Shrine create this mocking cover of the underwater hero, lying in a pool of oil with the BP logo tragically placed across his chest.

No word yet on whether Hydro-Man or Iceman will spring into action.

Meanwhile BP continues efforts to stop the tragic spill after a series of failed attempts.
