Flash #1 Variant

Here is one of the variant covers for the upcoming Flash #1. This one was done by Ivan Reis and Tim Townsend. I’m huge fan of both artists, and very glad to see them working together. It certainly creates a beautiful end result.

While the internet is all a buzz over DC’s reboot, here’s what we have gathered on the new Flash #1

The Fastest Man Alive returns to his own monthly series from the writer/artist team of Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato! The Flash knows he can’t be everywhere at once, but what happens he faces an all-new villain who really can! As if that’s not bad enough, this villain is a close friend!

When I got a chance to talk to Tim Townsend about doing the variant cover with Ivan Reis he said:

“All I can really say is that it was a ton of fun and I truly hope to work on more covers with Ivan again soon.”

Francis Manapaul, who is writing the series, stated in an interview:

“What’s exciting about this initiative is the opportunity to introduce these characters to a new audience. It also allows us as creators the freedom to explore new storylines.”

And… “The future begins this September.”

I don’t know about you, but I am definitely looking forward to seeing where this is going to lead us. Every reboot comes with a journey for new readers to become familiar with old characters. It also generally sees long-time readers faulting the new storylines that may forsake some of the characters’ history.

What are your thoughts on the new Flash? What are you most looking forward to… or afraid of?
